EPIC’s UTeach-Regular Education Teaching Position

Are you underemployed or looking to make a career change?  Would you like the opportunity to make more money and impact the lives of children at the same time?  Do you want to be part of a unique teaching environment that is paving the way for individualized learning across Oklahoma? Would you like to be able to spend enough one-on-one time with each student to bring out their maximum learning potential? Are you interested in the flexibility to control your own daily/weekly/monthly schedule? Does a bonus that could DOUBLE your salary sound good to you? If so, EPIC’s UTEACH-RedEd Program may be right for you!

EPIC’s UTeach-RegEd Program is an innovative, accelerated Regular Education career pathway designed to take you from someone who did not go to college to be an educator to a trained and certified teacher.  If you have a Bachelor’s degree and are interested in changing careers and working with students to help them reach their full potential, Epic’s UTeach-RegEd Program may be right for you.  Applicants will go through a multi-step interview process.  If selected, EPIC will make an offer of employment.

Phase 1: Emergency Certification

Upon successful completion of the multi-level interviewing process along with an offer of employment, participants will seek Emergency Certification through the Oklahoma State Department of Education.  You will be required to submit official copies of all transcripts to the Director of Certification, and complete the Background check and fingerprints for “Dual Processing” at the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) or Employment & Teacher Certification at one f the satellite locations. After an Emergency Certification recommendation is made by the district, you will be responsible for paying the $50 Emergency Certificate to OSDE through your Single Sign-on certification account to complete the Emergency certificate application that will go to the state board for approval.

Phase 2: Teaching & Certification

UTeach program participants will select an OSDE-approved education area of interest for certification based on their degree and work experience (ex: Business, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Computer Science, Music, PE/Health/Safety, etc.) and apply for the Alternative Certification pathway evaluation at OSDE. Teachers will then take the OSAT subject area certification exam assigned to them by OSDE, as well as any other required professional development activities to apply for initial alternative certification

UTeach participants will also participate in a Teacher Residency (Mentoring) Program with Epic.  Similar to a year-long student teaching experience, participants will teach students to complete a variety of cohort activities designed to increase their knowledge in the field of education.  A Certification Pathway Specialist will be assigned to assess your progress and work with you as you complete your certification journey. During the Teacher Residency, you will demonstrate your knowledge of pedagogy (teaching skills) through successful participation in the PPAT portfolio exam for certification, and complete any coursework and professional development hours required of your unique alternative certification program set up by OSDE. Upon completion of all requirements of your selected certification program,  participants will apply for an OSDE 5-year Oklahoma standard certification, in the content area selected.
